Brooks Men's Adrenaline Gts 20 Running Shoe
About this deal
As we create new gear and run our global business, we also want to minimize our impact on the planet — so we are limiting our reliance on non-renewable resources by using more sustainable materials and reducing waste. Some testers felt the GTS 20 was slightly less cushioned, but this could be down to it being lighter than the GTS 19. Do all running shoes really have the right amount of everything to protect us from injury and help us run our best?
The heel cup and collar padding also work quite well together to gently clasp around the heel and ankle, so the shoe adheres really well. One of the major accomplishments of new EVA foam technology such as this (DNA LOFT) is that it is ultra-soft and responsive at the same time, without sacrificing durability. We've shifted our focus beyond the feet to the most injury-prone part of a runner's body: the knees. This just happened from a run in Transcend a couple weeks ago since I loosen the laces for casual wear and thought it would be fine for 6 miles – nope, blood blister on my medial forefoot from a shoe with 200+ miles without issue. These Rails, designed with the idea of bowling bumpers in mind, keep my knees in alignment because they gently direct off-kilter foot motion back into forward momentum. We didn't have that experience at all, but it's certainly something floating around out there, so it's possible that you might have the sort of foot that won't catch in the cup. The imminent arrival to the market of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20, one of the models with the greatest weight in the catalog of the North American firm, is attracting all the attention. Wide feet, try a half-size up from your regular running shoe, or see if the StealthFit option allows enough stretch.
But, rather, the stability foam should gently guide the foot into holding the right position, leading to good overall alignment (hence the "Guide Rails" system moving to all-around support rather than just putting foam on the inside arch of the shoe). And yet, there will be runners who will be disappointed at the Adrenaline joining the neutral running camp. Pushing on the side it has good “give” yet seems like it wants to explode, like a soft pillow so compressed that it won’t let the pounding over miles keep it down. This latest update also features DNA LOFT, a compound that cushions and reduces impacts on contact with the training surface. This is a very different product than the older Adrenaline(s) so know what you’re spending your money on.Flatter or smoother tread is one of the clearest indicators that it might be time for a replacement. As a coach, I would recommend rotating them with another favourite shoe for speed workouts once a week, if you do them, for some "off time".
Minor changes to the base and added medial support strips to an overall slimmed-down upper mean this Go-To-Shoe just keeps getting better! It allows landing to be forgiving without sacrificing too much as the gait transitions force and weight into the midfoot and into toe-off. A new update that increases the feeling of comfort while running by providing a more personalized fit. The stretchy ankle opening reminds me of New Balance’s Fresh Foam Vongo V4, which I really like and just pulled out for some miles yesterday.
From a cushioning point of view, the GTS rides like the Ghost 12 – except for the cupped support near the top of the midsole. For example, if you overpronate, this causes the foot to buckle inwards, which causes the knee to rotate and pressure to get unevenly distributed even up to as high as the lower back joints. The GTS 20 consists of a new and improved upper that has shaved some weight, making the overall shoe lighter and more responsive. This upper is also similar to that in adidas Ultraboost shoes for a comfortable fit (and a much more low-key look).
