She rarely takes time out from writing and painting, and like us, many, if not all her holidays are creative times, and so we spent the week filming and photographing her work. We were also able to view the original manuscript, and as Jackie explained, 'a rare creature' in this digital age.
Now, the next film, as the book is about to be published: Made at Druidstone, by Chris and Davina, with beautiful music/soundscape from Molly Howell. It also shows part of the journey a book makes from initial idea to publication, and Unbound have been wonderfully fluid with this book in particular as we tried to realise the manuscript in print in the best way we could.
The film was made over distance, with myself and Cathy Fisher filming, sending clips to Chris and Davina. It is poetry re-imagined by a visual artist; words transformed back into their original function as images. These pieces are arranged in a sequence which culminates in a glorious final section made up of texts typed directly onto leaves, bark and feathers.
The stone was found on the beach at Druidstone Haven, washed in the waterfall there and gilded while she was staying at the Round House.
